UC San Francisco has worked strategically with community partners in the San Francisco Health Improvement Partnership (SFHIP) to enact high-impact policies, such as banning sugar-sweetened beverages from hospitals, to improve public health and reduce health inequities in the city, according to a new article published by the organization.

- Immigrants' Efforts to Access Public Schools and Higher Education in the United States is a chapter published by Alejandra Rincon, PhD, UCSF's Assistant Vice Chancellor and Chief of Staff, Office of Diversity and Outreach. The chapter - part of Cham Springer's Handbook on Promoting Social Justice in Education - chronicles longtime practices by the U.S. government to limit immigration benefits (and education) to those seen as deserving of them, criteria that has historically crossed the lines of race, national origin, language and class. The chapter examines such history and its implications for the immigrant rights' advocacy movement today.
Reports
- The 2018 Assessment of Food Security in San Franciso is a report prepared by the San Francisco Food Security Task Force. The report examined data from federal, state and locally funded food programs in order to develop recommendations for policies and systems to support gaps in San Francisco's food needs. This data integration exposes health disparities to be addressed in all programs serving communities in need.
- Drinking Water Promotion Project (DWAPP) (pdf) is a report on regional, schools-based water equity efforts that UCSF's Dr. Ansiha Patel and Roberto Vargas contributed to, along with many collaborators from across the San Francisco Bay Area, via Bay Area Nutrition and Physical Activity Collaborative (BANPAC), 2017-2018.
