Technical Assistance

We connect people with experts in order to develop health policy, interventions, evaluation design, and more. The timing and depth of the technical assistance depends on many things, including the interest of partners and the resources available.

Some examples of technical assistance we've provided include: helping policymakers develop health policies grounded in science and informed by community perspectives, and helping a community-based coalition develop an evaluation plan for a transportaion and health services program.

Consultation

Let our staff connect you with experts and resources to address your research, workforce, educational needs, and more. We leverage our relationships across the University, the City and the world, to help you do work that aligns with our mission.

Facilitations

CCE staff can help you answer challenging questions by helping you to refine your questions, and convening experts from UCSF, local communities and beyond to help answer. Our consultations typically take about a month to plan, are facilitated in about an hour and a half, and provide you with notes and referrals within a day or two after the facilitation.

Training

We train or help provide training for UCSF learners, staff and faculty on how to build partnerships with communities, policymakers, civic agencies and others. CCE does this with an emphasis on building non-exploitive, mutually beneficial relationships toward equity. We help support curricular development and implementation for students of our graduate and residency programs across the Schools of Medicine, Nursing and others, including though service learning placements and classroom instruction.

Our Community Engagement and Health Policy (CE&HP) Program -- a component of CCE-- provides training for UCSF and community partners on how to develop and implement Community-Engaged and Community-Based Partnership Research (CBPR). Our online guides can help you understand opportunities for and steps to engagement.

We provide training for community clinics, organizations and other partners interested in using science, research or evaluation to improve or strengthen their community-based efforts.

Our trainings range from introductory to in-depth.
